Rosemary Beach merchants and homeowners, Faisal & Jenifer Syed, are partnering with Gina Shiflett of Salon Twist to host a Change the World fundraiser dinner at their house for the Global Village Foundation (www.globalvillagefoundation.org) on Sunday, June 14, at 5:00 pm.
This organization, founded by Le Ly Hayslip, benefits children in Vietnam by building schools and providing mobile libraries, among other things. Her main focus is not only trying to improve conditions for learning but to teach the teachers how to use books in schools, bring books to life and inspire students and teachers. All of this is pretty amazing in itself…. but add to this the fact that she has a story of survival from the Vietnam war that’s so powerful Oliver Stone made a movie about it (Heaven and Earth)…. and this is one incredible lady! Lydia Dean, founder of Go Philanthropic (www.gophilanthropic.com) which partners with Le Ly and Global Village, will also be attending and sharing how they’re helping people explore their world and make a difference in it at the same time. Check her out…. very cool!
Le Ly is going to bring Vietnamese groceries all the way from California and she’s going to cook the meal! The cost is 100.00/person and 175.00/couple
ALL proceeds will go to the Global Village Foundation
** Please also bring a small children’s paperback book for one of the portable libraries**
If you’d like to attend please RSVP soon to Jane Burns at mejane@me.com or 685-8505.
