For the 16th Year, Hombre Golf Club Will Host the 2nd Stage of the PGA TOUR Qualifying School.  The School will begin with practice rounds today, November 16th and Tuesday  November 17th. The tournament will start Wednesday, November 18th and conclude Saturday, November 21st with a rain date of Sunday, November 22nd. The PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament — otherwise known as q-school — is not a school in the traditional sense of the word, but the lessons learned while competing certainly can be life-changing. In reality, q-school is a survival test of as many as three tournaments that will eventually determine the players who earn their PGA TOUR cards for the 2010 season.

Whale Sharks in Grayton Beach!

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

We came across this video courtesy of SoWal.com and from what we hear, it is causing quite a stir! When you watch it you will see why.

Five Whale Sharks appeared just offshore from Grayton Beach, Florida in the first week of August in 2009. They remained in the local waters for two days. Many of the people chartering Grayton Beach fishing boats and one group of divers photographed and swam with the whales during the two-day event. A Whale Shark is not a whale (mammal) but is a gentle, non-dangerous, filter-feeding shark that is the largest living fish species.

James Griffith, a local firefighter/diver in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida captured the beautiful underwater video. The large school of bigger fish swimming with the whale shark are cobia.

“Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, never let it fade away…”

There is nothing quite like laying out under the blanket of a starry summer night sky to watch for brilliant, falling stars. Tonight the annual Perseid meteor shower will rain down in all its beauty, but you may have to be quite the night owl or early riser (depending on when you sleep) to catch it. In North America, the best time to watch will be between midnight to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, but late Tuesday night and also Wednesday night could prove fruitful, weather permitting. As another testament to the elegant beauty and quality that surrounds us on a daily basis in COLA 2 COLA, a prestigious publication is offering its praise of some local golf courses. WaterColor’s Shark’s Tooth and Camp Creek –award-winning Greg Norman and Tom Fazio designs – are ranked eighth and 19th, respectively, in Golf Digest’s “Best in State Rankings” for Florida in the 2009-2010 edition of “The World’s Greatest Golf.”

The Golf Digest rankings were determined by more than 900 panelists nationwide who played and rated thousands of courses on seven criteria: Shot Values, Resistance to Scoring, Design Variety, Memorability, Aesthetics, Conditioning and Ambience. Golf Digest’s “Best in State” rankings include both public and private facilities, and the magazine’s “World’s Greatest Golf” compendium is one of the most comprehensive collection of rankings in the golf industry.
